This essay comprises about half of the original and I have altered it only slightly to improve it, but I have not changed the argument in any major way. This work has sat in my drawers for all these decades because at the time there was nowhere to put out such a work. In 1981, I wrote a 10,000 word thesis entitled 'Women and Power: A Feminist Reading of the Homeric Hymns to Aphrodite and Demeter'. Initially it was Modern Greek but after a year of so I decided to learn Ancient Greek as my passion for mythic stories exploded. Travelling to Crete really turned my head and upon returning to Australia I decided to learn Greek. I was a young feminist and had read Helen Diner's Mothers and Amazons and while in Greece I read up on the Greek Myths. ![]() ![]() ![]() She lives near Houston, Texas with her adorable dog, Holly. ![]() I'm not insulting, but this is better than the first book. This time Patrick Ness approach readers with plain and better English. The thing that I find different about the book is the structure of the whole novella (or novellete), it was different compared to the first novel. You can give me a slap or a punch but no matter what happen, even though I did not like the book, I'll read the rest of the books in the series. I did not like Will Todd and how he approach the whole journey, I don't know how he survive by hiding and running all the way in the end or maybe Patrick Ness was approaching something invincible and surprising in the next 2 books in the series. It was a great mystery in the beginning of the book and this answered everything I need to know about Viola. So far, I like how Viola Eade survive before their adventure begun. When I saw the free e-book in Barnes and Noble I did not hesitate to download it because I want to read it again, give it a chance it deserves. I read the first book of the Chaos Walking series and too bad I did not like it. ![]() |
